The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crisis (IAWG) announces a 2-day training opportunity on how to implement the Reproductive Health Assessment (RHA) Toolkit for Conflict-Affected Women.

This training immediately follows the annual IAWG meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

Location: Kenya Red Cross Society, Nairobi
Date: 11-12 October 2007
Time: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM each day

Description: The training will include lecture, open discussions, small group work, and hands-on activities related to planning for RHA Toolkit implementation, training survey team personnel, and interpreting and translating data for programmatic action. The RHA Toolkit provides tools for field staff with limited survey skills to collect data on the reproductive health needs and outcomes of women affected by conflict. The training will be conducted in English and is designed for those responsible for assessing health needs, monitoring, evaluation, and programming in their sites.

Participants will be trained how to:
* Describe and understand all of the RHA Toolkit components, including:
o A comprehensive reproductive health questionnaire
o Two sampling methodologies appropriate for population-based data
o Key elements of training survey personnel
* Identify critical factors that affect implementation of the RHA Toolkit
* Translate data into action by proposing programmatic/policy responses to RHA Toolkit findings
* Understand how CDC's Division of Reproductive Health can provide technical assistance on implementing the RHA Toolkit

Registration: Registration is required and limited to 40 people. Please register at www.rhrc.org/IAWG. Attendance at the IAWG meeting is not required to participate in the training. The training is free, but participants are responsible for all travel related costs. Scholarship information is available at www.rhrc.org/IAWG.
