Family Health International (FHI)/Nigeria is looking for a consultant to help implement its comprehensive communications strategy. The strategy seeks to present the capacities and achievements of FHI/Nigeria to external and internal audiences; systematically gather and disseminate results, lessons learned, program innovations, and best practices; improve internal flow of information, experience, and knowledge between headquarters and zonal offices and among zonal offices; inform and influence dialog, policymaking, and initiatives of regional and international institutions and the private sector; and continuously monitor and evaluate activities to ensure they effectively support the country office's evolving communication needs. The consultant will propose a work plan to complete the strategy and, upon approval, begin implementation by, among other tasks:

* recruiting and training staff for a country-office communications unit
* developing timelines for completion of main communications tasks
* developing policies on media, documentation review, and feedback
* developing templates, guidance on style and branding, and training support for the communications unit and zonal office staff

We anticipate the consultant will work 30-60 days (not continuously) at home and in FHI's offices throughout Nigeria. The consultant must understand the cross-cutting nature of FHI's work as well as the complex multi-donor funding environment. Experience with media in a West African environment is very desirable.
