EDCTP is an independent international organisation hosted by NWO, The Hague. EDCTP is a collaboration between European and African countries with the aim to accelerate the development of new clinical interventions (e.g. drugs, vaccines) against poverty-related diseases in Africa (HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis). The organisation focuses on the funding and coordination of large clinical trials and research initiatives in Africa and Europe as well as strengthening the capacity to perform clinical trials in Africa. EDCTP is now looking for candidates for the position of
GRANTS MANAGER
The Grants Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee the administrative process for EDCTP's core business, which is to fund (but not sponsor) clinical trials. It is an administrative managerial position geared towards mid-level professionals with a scientific/clinical/research background. He/she will lead the "calls and grants" team which consists of 4 early career project officers and will be expected to contribute to the development of new EDCTP processes, procedures and programmes. He/she will report to the Executive Director.

The Grants Manager will perform and also supervise the Project Officers to carry out several tasks including:
? Managing the "calls" for research proposals process - administratively managing development, review and project selection
? Overseeing the finalisation of new grantee agreements
? Overseeing administrative monitoring of grants
? Reviewing project reports and clinical protocols
? Creating and revising standard documents specifically used for the calls and grants process such as operating procedures and guidelines
? Preparing reports for submission to the EDCTP EEIG General Assembly, European Commission and like-minded organisations
Specific knowledge, qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
? PhD, MD or equivalent in a life science or related area
? Familiarity with developments in the relevant scientific fields (malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS)
? Familiarity with funding mechanisms and management of clinical research
? 5 to 8 years related work experience
? Experience in a supervisory administrative role in a paper-driven environment
? Experience in writing reports for a variety of audiences
Employment conditions
The employee will be stationed at the EDCTP Secretariat in The Hague, The Netherlands. Employment by EDCTP will be on a contract for an initial period of 12 months with possibilities to extend. The salary will be competitive depending on experience and education.
