VOICE Trial Discontinues Research on Tenofovir Gel

The Vaginal and Oral Interventions to Control the Epidemic (VOICE) trial has discontinued the 1 percent tenofovir gel research from the study due to results demonstrating its lack of effectiveness in preventing HIV among women enrolled in the trial.
Combination Prevention Can Result in Effective Prevention

Because no single prevention package will address all epidemics around the world, combination prevention approaches are the most appropriate response to the "know your epidemic" and "know your response" imperative. To achieve intended prevention results, combination interventions must be tailored to the local context and adopt outcome and impact measurements to tease out the most efficient and cost-effective mix of behavioral, biomedical, and structural interventions.
Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Gains Ground in Southern and East Africa
