This three-week course is offered by the Epidemiology and Public Health, Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, Umea University, Umea, Sweden.

The overall aims are to discuss epidemiological design, analysis and interpretation, as well as the roles of quantitative and qualitative approaches in public health research.

The course is designed to follow the research process from problem identification, planning and data collection through analysis, interpretation and documentation.

The presentational form is a mixture of plenary lectures, group work, hands-on experiences of analysing data and discussion directed towards an inter-disciplinary audience. A number of places in the course are reserved for participants from developing countries involved in public health research.

Some scholarships are available for participants from developing countries involved in research co-operation supported by Sarec/Sida in Sweden.
