Age standardized Death Rates are generated using the worldstandard population based on J. Waterhouse et al. (eds.). Cancerincidence in five continents, Lyon, IARC, 1976 (Vol. 3, pl 456), as used by WHO. Proportional Mortality In 1994, 33.80% of all deaths in China were due to cardiovascular disease whereas 66.20% of all deaths were due to other causes. Of these CVD deaths, 57.18% were due to cerebrovascular diseases, 20.73% were due to ischemic heart diseases, 11.97% weredue to other CVD-related illnesses, 6.86% were due tohypertensive diseases, and 3.27% were due to chronic rheumaticheart disease.
